From Santa Ana de Coro , livestock was moved to the Tocuyo and Barquisimeto , where weather conditions , natural pastures and the existence of water favored the development of their young. In 1530 , in advanced from the Tocuyo , the conquistador Cristobal de Mendoza Rodriguez founded the first ranch in the central plains , specifically the Uberito site , in the vicinity of the current City Jail, Guárico today . From there it spread to livestock and Pampas Araucanas Apure , through incessant animal trappings conducted in long, fateful days llevasen them via plain or plateau Andes to Santa Fe.Gradually the number of cattle was adding to , to the point that the historian José de Oviedo y Baños 1547 that existed outside of the Tocuyo around 4000 cows, 2000 horses, and 12,000 sheep. With the passage of time, cattle ranching became a growing economic activity due not only to the increase of the herds , but to the many tasks that were developed from the leather industry , which for 1620 exported more than 9300 pieces Spain .
